Different Syllabi & Grammar Diagnostic | http://ojcsteve.tripod.com/id19.html | I have prepared two separate "lessons:" one is for a curriculum design course that I am teaching face-to-face with Japanese students at my college (the activities I prepared deals loosely with vocabulary) and the other one is for an online course I teach on how to teach grammar (it was prepared with Hot Potatos). Enjoy! |

Marketing Lesson Plan
| Background:
This material is for a class that I’m teaching called “Reading and Writing Through Business Content.” This class is a low-intermediate class at a community college. We meet four days each week for a total of six hours of instruction.
The following are some ways that I would modify the class if it were on-line.
Focus:
The focus of this lesson is Marketing.
Goal:
To have students read two readings (The Four P’s and Target Marketing) from our book __Business Concepts for English Practice__, and then answer the comprehension and vocabulary questions.
To have students write a descriptive paragraph about an advertisement of their choosing.
Objectives:
Students should write descriptive paragraphs about advertisements that they have chosen.
Students should have an understanding of the new vocabulary from the readings.

Getting to know ESIEE | http://esieemmhh.wikispaces.com/ | Delivered on a wiki for user-friendliness and future collegial editing and future student additions, this self-study activity aims to familiarise learners with their new study environment. Using EclipseCrossword and QuestionWriter, the imperative and prepositions of place and movement are reviewed, contextualised vocabulary building activities are undertaken, and the undergraduate computer technology students are engaged in hands-on purposeful learning, as are the teachers who contribute further to the wiki.

Grammar Review Links | http://wizard.4teachers.org/builder/worksheet.php3?ID=88627 | This is a site I created for an advanced grammar class to review 3 recent topics: Modals of Certainty, Indefinite/Definite Article, and Count/Noncount Nouns. I used Web Worksheet Wizard to crete the page. |
Vocabulary through Video "John Deere The Man" | http://homepage.mac.com/knewgarden/KNEPortfolio/documents/PP104lesson.html | Sorry for this late submission. My other page listed above is really not a lesson plan as much as it is a way of collecting good sites for grammar review. This lesson plan revolves around a short movie about John Deere and includes previewing, practice and use activities with key vocabulary from the video. I've incorporated a Quia activity and quiz that I created. The video is embedded and linked. It may take some time to download, so if you prefer, use the Google video link. |

Grammar and Vocabulary | http://www.quia.com/pages/pp104.html | This lesson plan was created with Quia Class Page for an ESP writing course. The activities I prepared for PP104 will be used with my students on Sunday. There are 2 grammar activities (discovery.com) and a vocabulary activity (Quia). This is just a sample of what I'd like to do with my students in the very near future. Feedback appreciated :) |

Lifestyles, attitudes and feelings! | http://www.futurecontinuous.bravehost.com/actpassintro.htm | -ING or –ED?
Aim: teach / practice adjectives ending in –ing and –ed.
Ss’ level: Pre-Intermediate (Ss have already had 4 years of instruction in EFL and have just started their fifth year of EFL studies.)
Ss’ age: 11 – 14
Type of instruction: The activities are aimed at supplementing a f2f class
Course book used in class:
Harris, M., David Mower, Anna Sikorzyńska: “Opportunities Pre-Intermediate”. Essex: Pearson Educated Limited 2000, 2000.
The topic of Lifestyles is developed in Module 1 of the course book.
Ss have difficulty making the distinction between adjectives with an active meaning (-ing adjectives) and adjectives with a passive meaning (-ed adjectives). They say/write such sentences as:
I am boring with a grammar lesson.
I am interesting for games.
Tests are very stressed for me.
I have, therefore, decided to create a series of activities that would help Ss deduce the difference between the two groups of adjectives, as well as the meaning of verbs describing attitudes and feelings. I believe that this word group will help Ss express their attitudes to and opinions about various lifestyles. The final activity in the series aims at practicing the use of active and passive adjectives.
I decided to use Hot Potatoes to make the activities because this authoring program allows a teacher to prepare a variety of activities quite easily.
I would appreciate your feedback and comments.

WordChamp Vocabulary Quizzes | Lesson Plan | This pages attempts to provide students of English a means to access a number of vocabulary quizzes for the same set of words, in this case words taken from the academic word frequency list. An unfortunate aspect of this otherwise excellent website is that one can't prepare Eng-Eng definitions. Apparently, the website is geared for English speakers studying a foreign language, or low level speakers of English who need a definition in their own language. |
Proofreading/Editing Process | Lesson Plan (scroll to bottom half of page) | This series of exercises designed to deepen students' understanding of the editing/proofreading process culminates with a review exercise created on the Discovery excercise-maker homepage. As has been mentioned before, making the online exercises is time-consuming so a teacher would probably want to feel reasonably confident that s/he will use the exercises again in the future, with more than one class. |

The objectives of the lesson are: (1) to develop knowledge of the parts of speech so that they can proceed with confidence through the remainder of the course; (2) to have practice using online tools for language instruction; and (3) to use critical thinking to evaluate learning activities. |
